Narnia's New Zealand & Eastern Europe
The Pevensie children’s journey begins in a London tube station, when their train enters a tunnel and they emerge in a cave in the land of Narnia. They discover the old palace, Cair Paraval, in ruins—the rock island jutting out of the sea.
Producer Mark Johnson says they didn’t use the locations to their full advantage in the first film. “The shots weren’t as spectacular as they could’ve been. What we needed to do in Prince Caspian is situate Narnia into a magical, real world.” This magical venue, Cathedral Cove, North Island, New Zealand, happens to be a two-hour drive south of Auckland.
